  1. Keybase's purchase by Zoom is very unfortunate. It isn't just for messaging but can also be used for a cloud since it has personal storage space for it's users. If you haven't covered it already, I suggest you discuss cloud storage services. There is Syncthing and Nextcloud but both can be difficult to set up due to the different things users have to do set them up. One cloud storage service I like that also comes with an encrypted messaging feature is Mega. Their applications are open source, they provide end-to-end encryption, and Mega has just about everything Nextcloud does except all someone has to do is sign up. https://github.com/meganz

  2. imo, use software that is best for your needs. sometimes, one is better than the other (even when considering from a privacy standpoint). there will be compromises anyway, not a perfect world.

i am a former xiaomi user of 4 years, and i just hated the ecosystem in general (GUI, features etc).

  3. There goes Keybase, they said themselves in their own blog: "Ultimately Keybase's future is in Zoom's hands, and we'll see where that takes us."

Anyone else have any alternatives that doesn't require a phone number?

  4. I love the way the channel is going, unlike Techquicke. They dumb down most of the important information or just don't cover it, yet they always have time for their sponsors. It's not good to not include important information like Xiaomi's disgusting way of collecting data, and who knows how many more of them are still doing it. But because of that info, i sure as hell will not be buying their phones.

Currently I'm still rocking Honor 10, it has Google Play Store support and has been getting some updates. It's definitely not the best, but it doesn't concern me much either. I just hope the new Google (budget) phone will get support for the GrapheneOS.

  5. Xiaomi doesn't even allow you to unlock your bootloader, this change has been added recently and now with data collection. It just paints a horrible picture, i guess Huawei isn't the only one when it comes to doing shady stuff.

  6. How do you feel about Authy? I remember I used to use Google Auth until I had to reset my phone and found out oh crap now I can’t log into my stuff since I don’t have my 2-factory. So I found Authy and been switched over ever since.

  7. Congrats on 3 months. I missed your notification so I didn't get the report "fresh', but it was just as enjoyable stale too. I hope you are having fun sharing this info as much as we love to consume it. I just updated Firefox and was shocked to see Brave kinda stats showboating.

  8. New subscriber here, thanks for the videos mate. One suggestion tho, if you could, maybe make these vids shorter, like 5 minutes or so. Or at least mention in a comment the time stamps for each subject in the vid so that we can quickly skip through subjects we have no interest in. Cheers and keep it up.
